This recipe is for those who never frequent the kitchen, but just for a weekend fun~
Have fun. REMEMBER safety first, be careful with hot water and the knife when chopping/cutting !
Step 1: First of all, prepare the ingredients. Don't ask me how much for each item, because I also have no idea, haha :
- A chicken which has yet to be frozen, wash first with salt
- Some ginger (sorry I have no idea how much)
- Some salt
- Sesame oil
- Rice
- Some water
- Turmeric
- Pandan leaves
|
Step 2 : Put the chicken into boiling water with sliced ginger and some salt. |
|
Step 3 : Cook it for approx 20 minutes with small fire. It may require more than 20 minutes, or less. Please estimate yourself using your instinct and own judgement. |
|
Step 4 : After 20 minutes, according to my grandmother, we need to take the chicken out of the water and rinse it with some water (at room temperature). According to myth, by doing this can prevent the skin from peeling of? After that, put the chicken back into the water and continue boiling. |
|
Step 5 : Let the chicken boil for another approx 10 minutes (Not exactly 10 minutes, you need some judgement)
Insufficient cooking may result in under-cooked meat, which taste rubbery and a bit disgusting especially seeing strings of blood between the texture of the flesh;
yet, the chicken should not be overcooked as well, which may caused the chicken to taste bland and dry.
This is the part where some skills or judgement is required!!

|
Step 6: Once the chicken is cooked, remove the chicken from the chicken soup. Pour the soup into your rice cooker. Add rice, ginger (from the soup), pandan leaves and sesame oil. Add some turmeric to add fragrance and the chicken rice it's trademark yellow colour.
Step 7 : Chop the chicken (be careful, the last thing I want to hear is someone hurting their fingers!). Once the rice is cooked, serve the chicken with rice.
END!
